Orbi was created to bridge the gap between mental and physical health for the millions of people navigating life with a long-term condition.
1 in 3 people in the UK lives with a long-term physical health condition (LTC). Yet mental wellbeing is often left out of their care.
Living with an LTC can bring stress, low mood, and anxiety, but these challenges are rarely acknowledged, let alone supported. Orbi exists to change that.

Researchers at King’s College London, together with experts at King’s Health Partners, created COMPASS — a 12-week programme developed specifically for people living with long-term conditions.
It was built with input from clinicians, researchers, and — most importantly — people who live with these challenges every day.
This research was part-funded by the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre, and shaped in collaboration with incredible UK charities.

To bring COMPASS to life for thousands more people, the team partnered with Avegen, a digital health company specialising in personalised patient tools.
Together, we transformed the programme into Orbi: a clinically grounded, easy-to-use app that helps people feel better in their everyday lives.

Orbi was born from a shared mission: to change how mental health support is delivered, making it more accessible, more personal, and more relevant to the real-life experiences of people living with long-term conditions.
Orbi is here to help people across the UK feel more supported, more in control, and less alone.

Rona is Professor of Psychology as Applied to Medicine at King’s College London. She’s spent over two decades researching how long-term conditions impact mental health and developing ways to support people living with them. Rona led the creation of COMPASS to make these tools more accessible, and worked closely with patients, clinicians and researchers to help shape what became Orbi.

Joanna is a Research Associate at King’s College London, focused on helping people with long-term conditions better manage their mental wellbeing. After working in psychological therapy services, she saw firsthand how traditional approaches often fall short for people with physical health issues.

Katrin is a registered Health Psychologist and Research Associate at King’s College London. She specialises in developing practical, psychological tools for people with long-term conditions. Her background in both hospitals and research inspired her commitment to joined-up care, supporting both physical and mental health at the same time.

Abigail is a Clinical Health Psychologist at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and part of the COMPASS team at King’s College London. She supports people with long-term conditions through evidence-based therapies, and brings this clinical expertise to teaching and supervising COMPASS facilitators, making sure the programme is grounded in real-life care.

Nayan is the CEO and co-founder of Avegen, the digital health company behind Orbi. With a background in medicine and healthcare innovation, he’s passionate about using technology to improve lives. Nayan led Orbi’s development to help more people access expert-backed mental health support, designed for real life and available anytime it’s needed.
